If you are already Vet Pro enrolled you may be eligible for a sign on bonus…Three Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants to provide primary care services for the Togus V A Medical Center, Augusta, Maine for an estimated period of July 23, 2007 through November 23, 2007 with a possible extension if needed. One (1) NP/PA will provide services at the Bangor Community Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Bangor, Maine, one NP/PA will provide services at the Rumford Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Rumford, Maine and one (1) NP/PA will be required to provide services at the Togus VA Medical Center located in Augusta, Maine. This providers are needed to work the day shift 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; however, no federal holidays will be worked. A minimum of a three month commitment required.
The PA/NP's duties under this contract would include the management of chronic medical conditions including but not limited to hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and coronary artery disease. There may also be a need to manage urgent exacerbations of these conditions. The physician must also be able to deal with pain management issues. This work occurs in an outpatient setting.
The specific knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to do the above jobs are:
1. Primary care experience
2. Preventive health screening including sexual trauma and post traumatic stress disorder screening
3. Computer Skills
4. Excellent Interpersonal Skills
5. Medical Terminology
6. General infection control procedures for outpatient setting
7. Ability to recognize and act in emergency situations
Services to be performed shall include, but are not limited to: Delivering quality care for a specific group of patients ~Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting patient care ~ Providing care that recognizes the differing developmental (age specific) and treatment needs of the patient ~ Implementing the plan of care, meeting patients in a safe environment ~ Accurately and concisely documenting and reporting care, including significant data regarding patients response to interventions ~Taking appropriate therapeutic action in potential or actual emergency situations ~Providing and documenting patient education.
