 Denver, Colorado Mycobacterial/Resp Infections NP The Department of Medicine at the National Jewish Medical Research Center seeks a dynamic and motivated Nurse Practitioner to work within its Division of Mycobacterial/Resp Infections. This position involves performing Health Assessments and clinical procedures involving a variety of respiratory and dermatological conditions. Prescription Authority Experience is preferred. EVIDENCE OF QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: (1) Completion of a nationally accredited graduate level university educational program for Nurse Practitioners (This is preferred over number "2"), or (2) successful completion of a national advanced practice certification examination. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) or more years of recent and related experience as a nurse practitioner. - OR - Any equivalent combination of Education and Experience. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Current Colorado RN license, APN license, current CPR certification. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read and comprehend medical literature, including interpretation of disease processes, medical charts, nursing/medical journals and books, medication instructions and physician notes and instructions. Also includes calculations of adult and/or pediatric medication dosages, IV administration, review of vital signs, spirometry, percentiles and interpretation of graphs and lab values. Communication includes ability to provide comprehensive and accurate nursing progress notes, communication with interdisciplinary team as well as with differing ages and levels of maturity/understanding of patient and family, committee reports, discharge plans for patients, memos to staff members, taking and recording telephone messages. Manual dexterity is needed to write notes while holding a chart, manipulating and operating equipment such as dynamapp, IV pump, oximeter, and Jaeger for spirometry testing. Frequently has the need to assist a patient by moving or lifting. Also involves pushing wheelchairs, opening doors and cabinets, reaching for medications or objects. Occasionally will need to bend in order to retrieve a fallen object for a patient.
