The
Emergency Department at Southern Ocean Medical Center consists of a
stable team of board certified emergency medicine physicians and nurse
practitioners and an excellent nursing staff. The ED has 38,000 visits
annually, 19 beds (7 monitored) and 36 hours of emergency physician
coverage and 8-16 hours/day of NP coverage in SOCHCare which has its
own dedicated space and staff for minor emergencies. This 130-bed
hospital blends the most advanced medical technology and techniques
with the warm, personalized care of a community hospital to provide
healthcare services for the residents and many visitors to Southern
Ocean. The hospital has on-site MRI, Spiral CT, DEXA Bone Densitometry
and Stress Echocardiograms. Its patient care services range from
cardiopulmonary and cancer to physical therapy and wound care. A new
Maternity Pavilion has the latest patient and family friendly
atmosphere.
Southern Ocean Medical Center is located in
Manahawkin, which is located inland from the Long Beach Island section
of the Jersey Shore. The climate for the area is mild, and the

respected general surgical practice. The Provider would be responsible
for working in the clinic, assisting the surgeon in surgery and
rounding in-house. The clinic hours are Mon-Fri 8:30 am-5:00pm with an
estimated volume of 20 patients per day. The Surgical Provider would
work up H&Ps, order lab tests, prescribe medication, help with

The clinic
is looking to hire an FNP/CNM who will provide family practice and
obstetrics healthcare services in collaboration with hospital staff
physicians and midlevel providers; the provider will make rounds on
assigned inpatients and provide primary care services in the medical
clinic. The provider is permitted wide latitude for the exercise of
independent clinical judgment subject to the Medical Staff Bylaws.
The
ideal candidate must be licensed in the state of Colorado as a Family
Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Midwife The call for this
position is 1:7 for hospital admission and deliveries only; no ER call.
The schedule will rotate with the other providers. A normal schedule is
four 10 hour days per week. Some evenings and Saturdays are also
included in the schedule. The work and call schedules are both very
flexible.
The primary care clinic provides general medical and
surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients,
and participates in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The clinic
continues to grow and is expecting to provide 26,000 patient encounters
this year. The hospital is a 25 bed critical access hospital offering
private patient rooms. Services include cardio-pulmonary, ER, home
health, imaging, laboratory, rehab, surgery, rehab, and a birthing
center. The hospital averages 135 deliveries per year. The hospital
contracts ER physician coverage, staff physicians serve on call to
accept patients from the ER for hospital admission.
The Health Professional Shortage Area Score (HPSA) for this site is 12
per HRSA.
