Determine daily plan of care and collaborate with Pediatric Neurosurgeons and hospital and outpatient health care teams. Perform complex procedures for pediatric neurosurgery patients per scope of practice. Supervises care delivered by nursing and auxiliary health care staff. The minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year experience as NP or PA-C. Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of the techniques and practices of the nursing profession. Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and service areas; provide appropriate levels of administrative support, research support and maintain current license. Provides leadership and guidance in the area of inpatient and outpatient care and clinical support operations for the Department of Neurological Surgery. Works in partnership with faculty physicians to provide excellent clinical care and customer service in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Outpatient Patient Care Responsibilities: Providing patient care in the outpatient area for pre-operative and post-operative care, wound care, emergency add-ons and chronic follow up as determined by physician. Inpatient and OR responsibilities: Providing operating room assistance to assigned neurosurgeon. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: NP/PA graduate from accredited school. Master's degree in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner certificate. Previous patient care experience in neurosurgery or related field including pre and post operative management, performing histories and physicals on surgical patients, and clinical followup. Evidence of highly effective communication skills. DEA certification; CPR certification. For NP's: Licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing or For PA's: Licensed by the State of Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, NCCPA certifications. Schedule and Salary Range
